TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS VS. TENNESSEE TITANS – 10/27/2019 FREE PICK & NFL BETTING PREDICTION
This week eight matchup will see the Tennessee Titans hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Both teams have losing records as of now, but Tennessee is coming off a gritty win and can get back to .500 with their second win in a row.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Tampa Bay will be fresh off a bye week and boy did they need it. Their last game was played in London where they were shredded by the Carolina Panthers. The final score to this game was 37-26, but honestly the score does not show how one-sided this game was.
The struggles for the Bucs in this game started with Jameis Winston. It is very possible that Winston just had the worst game of his career across the pond. Yes, he threw for 400 yards, but when you throw 5 interceptions in a game, you know it has gone south. He also fumbled, so he really let his team down with all the turnovers.
Now even with Winston’s inability to take care of the ball, the Bucs still out-gained the Panthers by 139 yards. Tampa Bay still has the 15th best offense in total yards, and the 9th best passing attack. They also still manage to average 28.8 points, 4th best in the league.
If Winston can just stop throwing to the wrong team, this is a Bucs offense that can be extremely potent. They have guys like Mike Evans, who can make a big play at any point and Chris Godwin, who is showing that he has the skill to be a top wide receiver.
The defense for the Bucs played pretty sound given the circumstances they were constantly being put in. They held the Panthers to 268 total yards and more importantly, they held Christian McCaffrey to 31 yards rushing.
Allowing as many points as they did is pretty normal as they are the 30th best scoring defense in the league. They do however, have the number one rushing defense, allowing just 68 yards on the ground per game. On the flip side, they have the worst passing defense in the league, allowing an average of 304.5 yards per game.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans are coming away with an improbable win considering that the Chargers had the ball on the 1-inch line and still could not manage to punch it in. The final score to this game was 23-20
The decision to bench Marcus Mariotta for Ryan Tannehill paid off as Tannehill had a very nice day under center. The former Dolphin completed 23 of his 29 passes for 312 yards, two touchdowns an one interceptions.
As a team the Titans produced 403 yards of total offense. Considering they average just 306.6 yards per game, this was a big improvement. They still have one of the worst offenses in terms of productivity, but they managed to get the job done against the Chargers.
The defense is where Tennessee has excelled all year and they showed that again in this game. They allowed a total of 365 yards, but just 39 of those yards came on the ground. They now have the 8th best defense in terms of total yards per game and they also have the 4th best scoring defense.
NFL Betting Trends:
- The total has gone UNDER in 11 of Tennessee’s last 13 games against an opponent in the NFC South division.
- Tampa Bay are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 games against an opponent in the AFC South division.
4* Free NFL Betting Prediction: UNDER 46.5
Given how the Titans play defense, I can only look their way. Tampa Bay may have an explosive offense, but I cannot trust Winston to take care of the ball. I look for the Titans to win this game as a small favorite, but I like this to be a relatively low scoring game and will take the under as my official pick.
