OAKLAND RAIDERS VS. HOUSTON TEXANS – 10/27/2019 FREE PICK & NFL BETTING PREDICTION

Oakland has been one of the biggest surprises in the NFL this season, just for being competitive and functional. With all that Antonio Brown stuff early, that was in doubt.

Houston is looking to bounce back after a road loss to rival Indianapolis. That win would have meant a lot to shaping the second half of the season.

Oakland Raiders

Oakland had won two in a row before it came crashing back to reality at Green Bay last weekend. Not a huge surprise but even the extra rest of a bye week was not enough to give Jon Gruden and his charges an edge.

The Raiders seemed to have mastered the art of winning by a little and losing by a lot. This game against Houston certainly looks like it will fall into the latter.

The strength of the team is a rushing attack featuring Josh Jacobs. He has been especially good of late rushing for over 120 yards in two games straight.

There was a time that Derek Carr looked like an emerging player but really he is more of a game manager. If you like the standard rating system he is having his best season in the league this year.

To beat the Texans you gotta put some heat on their quarterback. If the Raiders can do that maybe this falls into the close win category.

Houston Texans

Houston couldn’t carry the momentum of a fun road win over Kansas City into Indy last week. Now they have to make sure they keep their eye on the prize because they have another big road tilt next week against Jacksonville.

Houston, led by Deshaun Watson has one of the best offenses in the NFL, 4th in yards and 9th in points. Its the defense that has held them back, especially against the pass.

Watson has not been at his best the last couple of weeks though, throwing two interceptions in each game. He only had one prior to that so not too much concern. He goes through cycles where he feels like he has to make every play for them to win.

He and DeAndre Hopkins are not providing the magic that was expected though. Last week was just the second time all season that Hopkins has gone over 100 yards or caught a TD pass. You get a sense that there could be an explosion coming.

They could also use an explosion from DE JJ Watt. He has just four sacks on the season but when he can get a couple in a game the team usually wins.

If you have been on the Raiders this season you have gotten some surprising results and some predictable ones. I am just not there in terms of trusting them or predicting their performance.

NFL Free Week 8 Score Prediction: Houston 35 – Oakland 20

The Texans are far from the most consistent team but they are better than Oakland without a doubt. I think Watson and gang will be able to get what they want and we won’t have to worry much about a late score ruining our wager.
