NEW YORK GIANTS VS. DETROIT LIONS – 10/27/2019 FREE PICK & NFL BETTING PREDICTION

The Giants are coming off a bad loss. They got their offensive weapons back in the fold against Arizona but did not play well against a bad team.

Detroit is also off a loss, to rival Minnesota. They were even but fell apart in the second half. That is not supposed to happen at home.

New York Giants

The Giants really laid an egg last week, losing to the Cardinals as a home favourite. In the game, they got down early, and just generally looked out of sorts. At home, you are supposed to be able to dictate the action more.

If you had Chase Edmonds on your fantasy team you probably made some money last week. That is the running back the Giants let rush for 120+ yards and 3 TDs, as a replacement. I don’t think the Arizona offensive line is that good that they can just plug and play running backs. The Giants front seven just looks slow this season.

Saquon Barkley was back for this one but he wasn’t able to get much going. He had one pop for 20 yards but his numbers were pedestrian and Daniel Jones seemed unaided by the running game.

One of New York’s two wins was on the road this season (Tampa) so perhaps they need a change of scenery. They have lost three in a row.

Maybe another week of practice gives the Giants skill players more time to mesh with the rookie QB and their offense picks up. They will need it because the defense seems unlikely to improve over the course of the season. .

Detroit Lions

The Lions also lost at home last week, to Minnesota. It was a big division game but the Lions fell apart late, giving up 42 points in the process. It was a bad showing for a team led by a coach that is supposed to know now to play defense.

For a while, the play of the Lions was making the NFC North look really strong but they have retreated to their familiar spot at the bottom of the standings.

Matthew Stafford had a strong game and might be having his best season ever but the results in terms of wins and losses are pretty much the same. The passing attack is 6th in the NFL.

It could get even better but the Lions need to do something about a defense that is in the bottom third in points allowed. Top corner Darius Slay is day-to-day at the moment and he is always key.

This is a game that Detroit should win, which is not something you say a lot. Unfortunately when you do it never comes with a guarantee.

These are two teams that nobody wants to trust. I think we will get more out of the Giants than we did last week so this is a bit of a buy-low spot.

I am not going crazy and saying upset just more offense from the G-Men against a suspect Detroit defense. Look for Barkley and Jones to be fantasy relevant too.
