DALLAS STARS VS. COLORADO AVALANCHE – 11/1/2019 FREE PICK & NHL BETTING PREDICTION

Today we have an exciting matchup of two teams in the Central division. The Dallas Stars will be traveling to Colorado to take on the conference-leading Avalanche.

Colorado has started the season incredibly. With only 4 losses on the year, they have looked strong through October. However, they come into this one having lost their last 2 games.

The Dallas Stars haven’t played as well as they did last year. The offense has been struggling and the goaltending hasn’t been as good as last year.

I expect this to be an entertaining game. The Stars looked great in their last match and maybe now they will have a chance to beat the slipping Avalanche.

Anthon Khudobin will draw the start for the Stars tonight. Khudobin has won back-to-back games while stopping 30 of the 32 shots (.938 SV%) in his last two outings He has looked great lately and maybe will give the Stars team morale the boost it needs.

As mentioned above, offensively the Stars have struggled. Tyler Seguin leads the team in scoring with 9 points in 14 games. This is a far cry from the Stars of last year, and if anything they added more offensive fire power in the off season.

Dallas has scored a power-play goal in three of its last five contests (3-for-15) after starting the season 1-for-25. They will be without defenseman Andrej Sekera tonight.

Colorado Avalanche

Phillip Grubauer will guard the cage tonight for the Avalanche. Tonight he’ll take on a Stars team that currently ranks dead last in goal scoring (2.21 GF/gm) through 14 games.

If there’s a reason to pick the Stars tonight it’s because of injuries to the Avalanche. Both Gabe Landeskog and Mikko Rantanen are out indefinitely. This means 2 thirds of their top line will be out for the game.

Colorado won three of four meetings last season with MacKinnon recording two goals and six points. I can see Mackinnon doing well but the team is banged up right now. He’ll have to be a beast.

I am actually going to give Dallas the edge here. The injuries really hurt the Avalanche who are a top heavy team. The Stars offensive players are slowly coming alive and maybe this is the game they need to break out.
