CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS VS SAN JOSE SHARKS – 11/5/2019

The Blackhawks are in a tough spot on Tuesday, playing a lot of games lately and all on the road. Chicago’s offense does seem to be coming around a bit though, could they be a sneaky ‘dog at +145?
San Jose hasn’t exactly exuded confidence as of late for bettors. The Sharks offense is in a free fall and this is no team that should be a -165 favorite over anybody right now.

Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks may come into Tuesday’s game a little bit fatigued. Chicago will be playing their 4th straight  road game in this one and also their 3rd game in 4 nights.
After a 0-3 loss to Nashville to kick off this current road swing, Chicago has an OT loss and a win on 0 days rest in their last two. Chicago is still just 2 points off the worst record in the league however.
The Blackhawks rank 2nd to last in the NHL in goals/game at just 2.3. They have shown a sliver of promise in the last little bit though. Chicago has scored 3 goals in each of the last two games and had a 5-1 win in their last contest at home.
The bad thing about Chicago scoring so few goals this season is that their defense has also been bad, allowing opponents 34 shots per game.
It was Robin Lehner in net in the win over Anaheim, but looking like Corey Crawford in goal on Tuesday. Crawford has allowed 4+ goals in all but one of his 5 starts and has an insane 3.74 GAA on the year.

San Jose Sharks

The Sharks should dominate considering Chicago’s woes in net. How can you bank on San Jose to do anything right now though 5 straight and 7 of the last 8?
Crawford could even shut down the San Jose offense the way they’ve been skating lately. The Sharks have been held to 2 goals or less in each of their 5 consecutive losses.
Home ice doesn’t do it either considering San Jose is 2-4 at the Shark Tank this season. San Jose has had the last 2 nights off while Chicago is playing in a 3-in-4 situation so fatigue is on the side of Peter DeBoer’s team.
What’s so disappointing about San Jose’s 5 game losing streak is that not only are they not scoring – they are leaking on defense. The goal disparity over the last 5 is 8-22 as 4 of 5 opponents have scored 4+ goals.
The O/U for Tuesday is 6.5 as neither goaltender can stop anything right now. Martin Jones goes for San Jose, having given up 8 goals in the last two games.

NHL Betting Trends:

  • Blackhawks are 40-82 their last 122 as an underdog
  • Blackhawks are 8-20 last 28 overall
  • Blackhawks are 8-22 last 30 on 1 days rest
  • Sharks are 2-5 last 7 as a favorite
  • Sharks are 2-6 last 8 home games
  • Blackhawks are 1-5 last 6 H2H meetings

Free San Jose Sharks vs. Chicago Blackhawks NHL Prediction:

There’s absolutely no value on San Jose with that price and in the midst of a 5-game losing streak. Chicago is on the fatigued side which will limit their offense, but the San Jose offense has been so bad they shouldn’t be a threat.
