SACRAMENTO KINGS VS. PHOENIX SUNS – 10/23/2019 FREE PICK & NBA BETTING PREDICTION

Wednesday, October 23 finds Western Conference rivals the Sacramento King vs. Phoenix Suns facing each other in their opening match of the 2019-20 season.
Last season, the squads played four times with the Kings winning three of the four contests. The Suns hold the all-time record having bested the Kings 135 of their 230 matches.

Sacramento Kings

After finishing ninth last season the Kings feel they are on the precipice of breaking through and enter the 2019-20 season looking to end their 13-year playoff drought.
In an effort to expedite that goal the Kings’ brain trust hired Luke Walton as the new Head Coach. His primary goal will be to improve Sacramento’s defense.
The Kings will push pace via De’Aaron Fox who is arguably the fastest player in the league. Last season the Kings posted the third fastest pace.
To bolster the youthful athleticism of the Kings, General Manager Vlade Divac added three vets- Trevor Ariza, Dewayne Dedmon, and Cory Joseph. Each will have a role in mentoring. Joseph with the guards, Ariza the wings and Dedmon the bigs.
It looked for a while like the Kings wouldn’t be able to come to terms with Buddy Hield’s extension but management and the guard came to terms on a four-year, $94 million deal.  Hield shot 42.7 from the perimeter last season.
The other returning free agent is Harrison Barnes who the Kings inked to three-years at $37 million.
Late last season the Kings pushed Marvin Bagley into the starting rotation and he responded. This year he’ll be a permanent fixture as a starter.
Trevor Ariza (surgery to remove back lipoma) De’Aaron Fox (back tightness) and Cory Joseph (right calf soreness) are all probable while Harry Giles (knee) will miss the game.

Phoenix Suns

Like the Kings, the Suns have missed the postseason for the past nine years but haven’t shown the same growth. Their goal is to improve this season and be more consistent on both sides of the hardwood.
Devin Booker is hopeful the Suns can finally take advantage of their youth and athleticism to demonstrate consistency and improve defensively. While the goal is always to reach the playoffs the Suns aren’t highly unlikely to take that great of a leap.
One area the Suns should be improved is at the starting point guard. Ricky Rubio was inked this offseason and will offer a veteran’s calm and solid playmaking which is something the Suns have been missing for years.
Devin Booker is probable despite a sprained middle finger. Tyler Johnson (knee) and Dario Saric (quadriceps) are both questionable. Cameron Johnson (left calf strain) and Ty Jerome (sprained right ankle) are both out Wednesday.
