OTTAWA SENATORS VS CAROLINA HURRICANES 11/11/2019
This is an instant rematch for these teams, which can be a good thing or a bad thing, depending where you stand.
Sure, the Ottawa Senators will head into this game feeling pretty good after earning a 4 – 1 victory against the Carolina Hurricanes in their previous game.
But with such a quick turnaround in the rematch Carolina’s lessons of what they did wrong against Ottawa are fresh in their minds (should be at least).
Now they get a reset on home ice. Although, Carolina has one of the lowest home ice advantages in the league.
Ottawa Senators
The Senators are second to last in the Atlantic Division, but they have won three of their last five, including the their last two games, so make it three and it’s a streak.
Still, this is Ottawa, a somewhat weak defence, anemic offense, at least they have decent goaltending in the form of Anders Nilsson. He has a save percentage of .930 which ranks him third among Eastern Conference goalies.
Having won a couple, the Sens players may be getting hungry again, remembering what it was like to win.
Carolina Hurricanes
Carolina on the other hand have lost four of their last five, and their frustration is growing.
In goal for Carolina is Petr Mrazek, .904 save percentage, 2.56 GAA, and in their previous outing despite giving up four goals, Ottawa was 0-4 on the power play.
Andrei Svechnikov potted the only goal for Carolina, adding to his recent points accumulation (two goals, two assists in five games).
Carolina is also without forward Erik Haula (knee) who missed the last outing against Ottawa as well.
Can team captain and journeyman player, Jordan Staal motivate this team and stop the losing streak at four games?
Free Ottawa Senators vs. Carolina Hurricanes NHL Prediction:
The odds favor a Carolina victory, after all, losing five straight, including a home loss to bottom dwelling Ottawa does seem unlikely.
But when teams lose confidence pulling out ion the dive becomes something out of all relation to their ability. On paper the Hurricanes are the better (aside from perhaps goaltending) but, as noted, Ottawa has found a taste for winning.

Ultimately however, you have to believe Carolina is going to get the win. Aside form averages and their overall ability, Ottawa just isn’t that good a team.
The odds are a little high for Carolina, perhaps sports books are trying to encourage more money on Ottawa? Whatever the case, don’t be tempted to take Ottawa.
