DETROIT RED WINGS VS NEW YORK RANGERS – 11/6/2019

If you’re the New York Rangers this year, when your goal scoring ability seems to be all over the map, what to you hope for? Probably to meet the team with the worst goaltending.
That’s what we get in this original six match-up. How inconsistent can the Rangers goal scoring be versus the worst goaltending this side of the ECHL (East Coast Hockey League, for those not familiar with the hockey classic, Slapshot).
The Rangers have the added advantage of playing at home, although that hasn’t entirely been a blessing this year, recently losing to the bottom dwelling Senators in front of the home crowd.

Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings actually came out of the gate this season looking pretty good, winning three of their first four games. But then came the collapse, going 1-10 in their next 11 games.
Not only that, most of those games were lost by three or more goals (did we mention they have the worst goaltending in the league?)
So what’s good for the Red Wings? It would be right-winger Anthony Mantha, with 9 goals and 14 total points on the season. When your team’s been outshot 17-4 in the past three games, you realize, Mantha is pretty much Detroit’s goal production.

New York Rangers

New York tried out back up goalie Alexander Georgiev for three games, winning two, but allowing six goals on 30 shots against Ottawa. So veteran Henrik Lundqvist will be back in goal Wednesday.
What’s good for the Rangers? Forwards Artemi Panarin, Ryan Strome and rookie Kaapo Kakko.  If they decide to show up on Wednesday the Rangers could redeem themselves to the fans for Monday’s 6-2 loss against the Senators.

Free Detroit Red Wings vs. New York Rangers NHL Prediction:

Yes their play has been wildly inconsistent, but you have to imagine the Rangers can’t be as demoralized as Detroit. Furthermore, the Rangers have exhibited some talent this season, whereas Detroit seems to be stuck in the mud.

4* Free NHL Betting Pick: Rangers ML

It’s always a danger to bet against a team that has already lost so many games, you’re tempted to think the law of averages eventually has to be on their side.
Do not be tempted into thinking Detroit can replicate Ottawa’s pasting of the Rangers. If New York learned anything from that game, they learned not to be over confident against weaker teams.
Take the Rangers and the over, as the Rangers will want to drive Detroit goalie, Jonathan Bernier from the net.
