DETROIT RED WINGS VS. CAROLINA HURRICANES – 11/1/2019 FREE PICK & NHL BETTING PREDICTION

Today we have an Eastern Conference matchup between the surging Carolina Hurricanes and the Detroit Red Wings. The Canes are currently 2nd in the Metro division and have won 2 straight games

The Detroit Red Wings are 2nd last in the Atlantic, but won their previous game. Detroit has not been good keeping the puck out of their net and will need to be better today if they want to win.

Petr Mrazek will start for Carolina. Mrazek allowed one goal on 29 shots in the Hurricanes win over the Flames on Tuesday. After a few tough games, Mrazek has won two in a row while stopping 60 of the 61 shots (.983 SV%) that he has faced.

Jimmy Howard will start for Detroit. Howard stopped 31 of 32 shots in the Red Wings win over the Oilers on Tuesday. He is 10-10-1 on the road since the start of last season.

Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings are unable to score goals. Their problems can be looked at that simply. When you’ve scored 30 goals on the season but allowed 46 you aren’t winning many games.

Their top line has been lethal and all 3 players are near a point per game. However, once you get past Larkin, Bertuzzi, and Mantha, the offense is lacking the talent and skill needed to win.

I’ve enjoyed watching the Red Wings this year as Filip Hronek has been a great young defenseman for them. I see the Red Wings as a lottery team so their fans are probably just excited about player development.

Carolina Hurricanes

If you’ve been seeing a lot of Carolina highlights recently it’s probably because of Andrei Svechnikov’s beautiful lacrosse goal. Svechnikov picked up the puck lacrosse style behind the net and stuffed it in to tie the game Tuesday before scoring the winner with 7:25 left for his fourth goal in two games as Carolina defeated Calgary 2-1

Svechnikov has come alive for them this year and is second on the team in scoring (12 points) after Dougie Hamilton. With Aho still struggling it’s been great for Hurricane fans to see their young superstar step up and carry the offense.
