The NBA is back and we will see a Western Conference clash between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Utah Jazz.

The Thunder swept the season series with the Jazz last season four games to none.

Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder come into the season with a new look team. They lost Russell Westbrook and Paul George and brought in Chris Paul from the Rockets.

This season has the looks of one where the Thunder are going to struggle. They do not exactly bring back superstars like a Westbrook an a lot of their younger players are ones to develop for the future.

Chris Paul was easily their best addition of the offseason, but I still believe this is a downgrade from Westbrook. Paul averaged the lowest in his career last season, just 15.6 points per game. This was on a Rockets team where James Harden was the main star and probably took the most shots. Now being on Oklahoma City, Paul will likely have the spotlight on him, which will allow him to improve his stats.

Another familiar face on this Thunder team is Steven Adams. He averaged 13.9 points per game and 9.5 rebounds. If the Thunder are going to have any chance to have a successful season, Adams must be a force in the post.

Utah Jazz

The Jazz also made some notable off-season additions this year. They added Mike Conley from Memphis and Bojan Bogdanovic from Indiana. Both these guys can score the ball very well and should help surround Donovan Mitchell with talent.

The Jazz averaged 111.7 points per game last season. This was good for 17th in the NBA. Their off-season additions should help them do a better job at scoring the basketball and I expect them to increase this average in the new season.

Defense has been the name of the game for the Utah Jazz for the past few years. Last season they were fourth in the NBA, allowing just 106.5 points per game. I believe with Conley this average has the chance to go down even more.

Utah comes into this season with high expectations. Maybe not a championship, but a deep playoff run is expected. They always seem to play great at home and this game should be no different. I like the Jazz to win this game and kick off the season with a win over a team they failed to beat last year.
