St. Louis hasn’t necessarily lost a lot of games to start the season, but they haven’t been capitalizing on getting all their points either with a 4-2-3 record so far.
The Blues are expected to get an easy win on Thursday when they welcome the Kings to the Enterprise Center. LA is a +160 underdog as they are 4-5 with just 8 points to begin 2019/20.

Los Angeles Kings

Does LA have much hope in this one? Despite being in 2nd to last in the Pacific, there are some things that the Kings have done right this year. For one, they are #1 in the NHL in offensive SOG while launching 37.6 per game.
The main problem for the Kings isn’t getting shots off, it’s having them go in. LA has been held to 2 goals or less in 3 of the last 5 games.
That being said, Los Angeles isn’t a total pushover on Thursday as they come into the Enterprise Center having won 2 in a row. Those were pretty dominant W’s too, a 4-1 win over Calgary (+129) and a 3-2 victory at Winnipeg (+130).
For as many shots as the Kings get off on offense, they’re also pretty good at limiting their opponents opportunities. LA is 2nd in the league in shots against allowing only 28 per game. The only problem is that about 1 in every 7 of those shots get through.
It’s looking like Jonathan Quick in net again on Thursday. The veteran has just an .847 save percentage on the year which is 2nd worst in all of the NHL among 63 goaltenders.

St. Louis Blues

St. Louis should be able to put some pucks in net vs. Quick on Thursday. The Blues have scored at least 3 goals in 6 of their last 8 games.
The Blues broke out of their mini-funk in their last game with a 3-1 win over Colorado, handing the Avalanche their 1st outright loss this season. St. Louis had gone 0-2-2 in the 4 games prior.
St. Louis is still just 2-1-2 at the Enterprise Center on the season. The Blues don’t get many shots off (29.7) which means they may struggle against the Kings – to get shots off, not necessarily to make them.
The total for Thursday’s matchup is 6, and that’s because St. Louis hasn’t been completely solid in goal either. The Blues had allowed 4+ goals in 4 of 5 games before holding the Avalanche to 1 score on Monday.
Jordan Binnington had to face just 18 shots against Colorado’s #1 scoring offense, stopping 17 of them. Binnington had allowed 11 goals in the three games prior so maybe he is turning a corner.

Free St. Louis Blues vs. Los Angeles Kings NHL Prediction:

LA had a nice win in Winnipeg on Tuesday but it’s easy to see their winning streak come to an end on Thursday. There’s no value on the Blues at -190, but Binnington should be able to contain the LA offense.
