HOUSTON ASTROS VS. WASHINGTON NATIONALS – 10/27/2019 FREE PICK & MLB BETTING PREDICTION
The road team trend continued in Game 4 of the World Series on Saturday night when Houston struck back to win its second in a row in DC, 8–1, and even the series at two.
Houston Astros
The rookie, Jose Urquidy, got the Game 4 start and was just terrific. He went five innings, gave up two hits, struck out four, and didn’t walk a batter. He now essentially becomes Game 7 insurance for the Astros, if the series gets there.
It certainly helped to get some run support early, which is what the Astros did. Alex Bregman and Yuli Gurriel delivered RBI knocks in the first and Robinson Chirinos made it 4–0 in the fourth with his second homer of the series.
Washington only really threatened once and it was in the sixth, when AJ Hinch yanked Urquidy and started the fresh inning with Josh James, who promptly walked two of the first three batters. Will Harris came on, loaded the bases, but got out of the mess with just one run in.
Alex Bregman erased any progress the Nationals made with a grand slam the very next inning to make it 8–1.
It’s a dream scenario for Houston, which got the win and didn’t even have to use Roberto Osuna or Joe Smith. Hector Rondon, Brad Peacock, and Chris Devenski were enough to get the final nine outs.
Washington Nationals
It didn’t take long for the series to shift back to feeling like it’s advantage Houston. Not only do the Astros have home-field advantage back (though so far that hasn’t proven to be an advantage), their three aces are lined up to start Games 5, 6, and 7 (if necessary).
The Nationals have Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg for the next two but they’re certainly not looking even as far as Game 6 with just one more chance to get a home win tonight.
Obviously, Scherzer beat Gerrit Cole in Game 1 back in Houston and the price he’s fetching in this game isn’t nearly as astronomical as it was in Game 1.
The total is just as low, though, and that’s where I’m wondering if there’s some value. Not only is it a 7.0 but there’s a little extra juice on the over.
Both guys threw over 100 pitches in that game, just five days ago, and neither was completely shutdown. Cole was in consistent trouble and Scherzer got dinged in the first inning, as so many of the starting pitchers in this series have.
Then there are the bullpens, which feel to me like they may blow up any time now. This one could stay under if both starters go six or seven innings and hold the opponent to two or less but, at this point, that feels like the more unlikely result.

I’ve got it going over and this time I’m not playing anything adjusted. It’s really a bet on one of these bullpens melting down a bit, if the starters are much better than they were in Game 1.
