I expect this to be a good game as both teams will be challenging for a playoff spot come the end of the season. While we see the moneyline as the most appealing pick here, with the way the Flames offense has performed the under isn’t bad either.

Both teams are well-rested coming into this game. The Washington Capitals have won 3 straight games and have scored 4+ in each of those games.

John Carlson is leading all defensemen in scoring and he has been unstoppable to start this season. The rest of their big guns, Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Backstrom, and Oshie have all been firing on all cylinders.

This is a tough team to beat that has the 6th best offense based on goals per game. They come into this one riding a hot streak, and they are able to keep the pucks out of their net with 2 good goaltenders.

Calgary Flames

The Calgary Flames come into this one with more questions to answer than their opposing team. They are currently middle of the table in the Pacific division and were able to eek out a win in their last contest against the Anaheim Ducks.

The problem for the Flames so far has been their offense. None of their players are scoring at a point per game clip. And to make matters worse their depth scoring has been almost nonexistant.

We expect Dave Rittich to get the start in this game as he has been playing very well for them. However, unless he is able to stand on his head, the Flames aren’t winning this with the way theior offense has played.

I’m going to keep things simple here with my prediction. The Capitals are the favorite to win this on paper and moneyline is giving them appealing odds. That’s enough for me. I do like the under, however, as Calgary’s offense has been nonexistent recently.
