The National League has belonged to the Dodgers each of the last two seasons, and this year, they may be in their most dominant form to date.
Their offense has been raking all year long, and Hyun-Jin Ryu has stepped into the role of staff ace as Clayton Kershaw declines. With the easiest path to the World Series and a roster capable of winning it, the Dodgers are rightly slotted in as favorites.
New York Yankees +400
It just feels right when the Yankees are loading up their roster with sluggers they have no business acquiring. The scary part is their pitching staff is really coming together as well, and their bullpen is lights out. If they add another rotation arm at the All-Star break – and they likely will – they’ll be a really tough team to beat come playoff time.
Minnesota Twins +1000
No team has enjoyed the renaissance of the home run than the Twins, who assembled a roster built to knock the ball out of the park from spots one through nine, and that’s exactly what they’ve done. They should add some pitching help at the deadline to help really make this club a threat down the stretch.

The Cubs seem to get forgotten in the mix of the elite teams in the National League, but they’re every bit as talented as any club in either circuit, and they have arguable the best manager in baseball helping to give them an edge as he pulls the string behind the scenes. Tampa Bay Rays +3000
The Rays are such a good story as they continue to compete in the tough AL East despite a payroll dwarfed by their competitors. This is a deep team with a really strong pitching staff that’s capable of making trouble for one of the big horses in the AL come playoff time.

The Rockies actually struggled to score runs a fair bit at the start of the year before having really picked it up since the first month of the season. And we all knew that was coming given how deep and talented their lineup is. If their rotation can get on a roll and they keep hitting balls out of the ballpark, they’ll be a real tough out in the fall.
Oakland Athletics +7500
The Athletics probably shouldn’t be where they are in the standings right now, but if the season ended today, they’d make the postseason. The team has gotten solid pitching performances from some surprise sources, and they’re hitting the ball well, with a lot of power from a club that plays on a park that really suppresses power. There probably isn’t any help coming at the trade deadline, but this is a team that can catch a lot of teams off guard down the stretch.
